Making a Buck Without Selling Out is a six-week online course designed to help visual artists develop their professional practice on their own terms. Whether you're just starting out or looking to take your next steps, the course provides a supportive, participatory environment focused on autonomy, sustainability, and self-defined success.
Rather than centering market demands or institutional validation, it emphasizes critical reflection and practical strategies for communicating your work, securing funding, finding or creating opportunities, and sustaining your practice over time. Participants—limited to a small group of 8—engage in weekly activities, peer feedback, and one-to-one support, using a workbook to track progression.
Facilitated by Cristiana Bottigella (hARTslane) and Sophia Kosmaoglou (Art+Critique), the course is rooted in collective learning and critical pedagogy, offering resources and tools to help artists sustain their practice.
